About Goldfields-Esperance

The wider Goldfields-Esperance region extends the golden belt south and east of Kalgoorlie, encompassing the historic centres of Coolgardie, Norseman, and Southern Cross. This is perhaps the most accessible goldfield for beginners — well-maintained roads, reasonable distances from Perth, and a forgiving landscape. Coolgardie, WA's first major gold rush town, still yields gold to persistent prospectors, while the Southern Cross greenstone belt is emerging as a significant new frontier.
